Current Problems
- Hosted by individual
- Not reliably backed up
- Attachments limited
Requirements / Feature List
- Remain a mailing list, not a forum or wiki
- Forum might be okay as long as there is a mailing list interface with automated cross posting
- Hosted on managed server
- Need a solution for dealing with large attachments.
- Backup of list archives
- (Really?? How often do people look back to look at Bill Murphy's jokes from 1996? What is the point of needing an archive of emails?)
- If the Wort mailing list were used for discussions other than jokes (maybe brewing techniques for example) then I would think having it searchable is an asset. Find me a mailing list application that doesn't support this...

- Portability / Ownership of data
- Searchable archives
Proposed Solutions
- Attachments
- Increasing attachment limit?
- Ability to place attachment online (wiki) and then link to it?
- Hosting
Worts have an account with http://www.hostrocket.com/ which provides the server and backup
- Portability
Alternative Solutions
- Google group
Yahoo group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wort/
- Someone mentioned at the August meeting that the Google group program can be downloaded and installed on a server. Is this true and how easy/difficult is it compared to current proposed solutions?
- I've searched around. I don't know who suggested this but I would be interested if it were true.
