3rd Annual Southern Vermont Home-Brewers Festival and Competition

This competition is open to all home-brewers. It is a little different in that you actually get to stand and talk to people as they are trying your beer. It's rather demanding in that they want an entire 5 gallon keg (or 2 cases of bottles) in addition to your time, but it may be rewarding for some people. Registration deadline is Sept 1st. `BEER REQUIRMENTS: A minimum of one 5 gal/keg, or the equivalent amount of bottled beer from each participating brewer per brew. All brewers are required to set aside approx one beer per style to be judged. Judging will begin at time of festival. All brewers are required to have their booth ready by 11:30 a..m.. Food and live entertainment will be complimentary. Pourers, tables and ice will be provided. Due to insurance requirements, brewers are not permitted to pour. Volunteers of the festival will be doing the pouring. Awards ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. Trophies and Prize money will be handed out for the top three brewers along with an award for Peoples Choice. Top winner will brew their award winning beer at Madison Brewing Co. along with a complimentary Keg to take home for your labors. Deadline for registration will be September 1, 2009. POLICIES & PROCEDURES LOCATION: Bennington Brush Co. (Formally CB Sports) From the North, take U.S. Rt. 7 South into town, on the right across from the Bank of Bennington. From the South: Take U.S. Rt. 7 North into downtown 1/8 mile past the four corners on the left across from the Bank of Bennington. From the West: Take VT Rt. 9 (NY 7) East into downtown Bennington. Turn left at the four corners onto U.S. Rt.7 North, 1/8 of a mile on left across from the Bank of Bennington. From the East: Take VT Rt. 9 West to downtown Bennington. Turn right at Four Corners onto U.S. Rt. 7 North, 1/8 of a mile on left across from the Bank of Bennington. HOURS OF OPERATION: There will be one tasting session Saturday October 3rd , 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Please Note: Brewer presence is required for the entire duration of the Festival. PARKING: All brewers are to park at the Rite Aid Plaza next to the Brush Co.. CHECK-IN: Please check in with Steve Perkins or Mel Madison when arriving to help you locate your booth. STAFFING : Only the brewer is permitted on site, all others will need to purchase a ticket at the door, no exceptions. EQUIPMENT: Each brewer must supply the following for your own use: Kegs: Beer and tapping equipment, including taps, gas, ice tubs and cold plates (if needed), water pitcher. Bottle Beers: Tub to hold beer and ice, water pitcher, and bottle opener.`
